The client caters to the market place for shipping industry. The project was initiated and completed when the client’s business was in the startup phase.
The client intended to automate the manual process of booking a container for export. In the traditional method, an end-user needs to contact multiple shipping companies or agents manually to get the rates. The client wanted to create a market place for end-user and shipping companies to improve transparency and efficiency where registered end-users can book their containers online without any calls/emails to shipping companies.
The client also wanted to gradually integrate the proprietary systems of various shipping companies used for determining their rates to facilitate automation of shipping companies’ rate forecasting process.
As it was a startup phase, the client was looking for a highly cost-effective solution due to its regulated budget.
WaferWire offered the client a fully customized Cloud-based solution that fulfilled their business requirement. The solution was developed and deployed in 6 months’ time-frame. WaferWire’s team helped the client to maintain lower infrastructure cost by consulting them on the Cloud Deployment using Microsoft Azure. Moreover, the rate forecasting feature helped the end-user to plan their shipping based on the rates and availability of routes. Further, to adhere to the regulated budget, the team focused and delivered the top priority features needed by the business.
One of the major challenges was to understand in-depth about the existing ERPs of the shipping companies for integrating them effectively. The team overcame this hurdle by communicating with all shipping companies individually to understand their integration data points. Based on this information, the team defined various scenarios in the proposed software to handle these integrations efficiently.
