About The Client

The client is the fourth largest two and three-wheeler manufacturer across the world. The group is amongst the top 10 business houses in India. The client is renowned across many countries in south and southeast Asia, the Middle East, Africa and Latin America and exports to more than 70 countries.

The Client Requirement

The client intended to implement the ‘Permit to Work’ system at its plants. These permits were granted by a manual process where the person had to fill up the details on papers to generate the daily permit. The person then had to get the necessary approvals by traveling across the plant and a large campus that houses 3 plants. Being manual, the process was cumbersome and time-consuming. Thus, raising the paper-based permits every day and obtaining approvals was draining in terms of time and effort.

The validity period of these permits is only for that day and the same process needs to be followed the next day with exactly the same details for the same work-order. It caused duplication of time and effort demands. Additionally, the client specifically needed SMS integration for remote approval from the managers who are not present at the location where the permit is generated.

Solution

WaferWire offered a digital solution in the form of a ‘Permit to Work’ system. The system is designed to save the details required for a specific permit requisition in the form of a template after completion of the work for the day. The system then provides these details to the requestor for generating and saving the permit for the next day, avoiding the duplication of precious time and efforts. All these templates are provided digitally that can be accessed remotely, eliminating the need for a paper-based copy.
