About The Client

Founded in 1937, Jamaica’s Forestry Department is the country’s lead agency responsible for protection and conservation of 110,000 hectares of forest land and manage and conserve forest resources in Jamaica. The agency works towards greater effectiveness, efficiency, accountability and productivity.

The Client Requirement

The client requirement included creating specified workflows and web parts in SharePoint 2013 with SharePoint branding design features for the client’s core SharePoint intranet portal.

Solution

WaferWire offered a SharePoint solution that primarily aimed to streamline the HR process and provide a central repository for documents. During the 5 months project time-frame, the team designed and developed unit, branch and division-wise separate subsites within the agency with each having unique branding for the respective entity. The solution included design and development of HR time off and interview workflow, service desk request, knowledgebase, registry and document management and used custom forms and listing pages for the same.

In the initial phase, the WaferWire team faced communication challenges due to the language and accent barrier; however, it quickly devised a way by recording and listening to the meeting recordings for better understanding and preparing requirement document.

The solution automated the business processes for gaining time efficiency. For instance, the HR interview process workflow takes care of sending the candidate’s documents for the approval process based on the candidate clearing the interview process. In the final stage of approval, the process automatically generates and sends the offer letter to the candidate, sends a notification to the approver and creates a PDF document at the workflow level automatically.
